About
Barn quilt and fiber artist and educator living and working in the High Country of North Carolina.
Hi! My name is Cinda. For many years, I worked full-time on a computer as an educator and instructional designer, and loved the design work, but the computer part...not so much. Now I prefer to work with my hands painting barn quilts, weaving (including as a demonstration weaver for the Banner House Museum), sewing, taking nature photographs, and more. I still continue to work part-time in education (including teaching barn quilt painting), communications, long-term and short-term property management, and as a volunteer. But the creative work of traditional folk crafts of the Appalachians connects me with both my mountain ancestors and the modern High Country community enriching my life beyond measure.
I learned barn quilt painting from Renee Brooks at the Florence Art School in West Jefferson, NC. I studied weaving with the Crossnore Weavers in Crossnore, NC and the Blue Ridge Fiber Guild.
Due to being just plain busy, I am not a production painter or weaver. I enjoy doing more complex and unique projects as my schedule allows. However, I may be available for custom work and I am also available to teach classes in barn quilt painting. Reach out! I look forward to hearing from you.
